The University of Sydney Pacific Collective strives to drive meaningful relationships and create a shared response within the region. We endeavour to share, showcase and sustain interactions with and alongside Pacific peoples and their communities.
The University of Sydney Pacific Collective enables members to proactively collaborate and provides a ‘front door’ for external stakeholders to work with members from across the Collective.
Through this, we provide a whole-of-university, whole-of-community and whole-of-regional approach, ensuring culturally nuanced, safe and sustainable outcomes
Our vision and values are influenced by Pacific-indigenous perspectives and practices that are collaborative, collegial and collective, commonly activated across Pacific villages and societies.
To collectively create shared opportunities, outputs and outcomes with and alongside Pacific peoples, places, perspectives & practices.

Our members belong to one of five village clans, providing a space for various ventures to be developed and mobilised. These clans are based on heritage and areas of engagement. Each clan has opportunities to create ventures with view that they receive feedback and contribute to other clans within the collective, facilitating our shared vision and values.
For example, University of Sydney Pacific staff and students from the Pacific Community Clan may provide feedback to other clans on culturally safe and nuanced approaches when collaborating with the region through research, policy and practice.
Similarly, the Pacific Education Clan may provide opportunities for the Pacific diaspora and island populations to inform, interact and contribute towards learning and teaching opportunities.
The University of Sydney Pacific Collective strives to drive closer relationships and create a shared response with the region. We're addressing the need to be unified, visible, and a strategic platform for Pacific engagement within the University and beyond. Our five clans are:
